I love the show “House.” Okay, fine, I love Hugh Laurie. The guy is freaking brilliant.
Tonight, while watching the newest episode, I couldn’t help but smile when House’s team of doctors threw SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) into the cauldron of potential diagnoses. Lupus is mentioned constantly, most often one of the first diseases put on the table. Tonight, when lupus was the assumed culprit in a patient’s ailing condition, pumping her full of prednisone was the immediate solution. Oh, Evil P, I thought, why do you have to be sooo effective in bringing lupus patients back from the brink of organ melt-down? You suck so much, but you do such a good job. Doctors can’t help but be seduced by your quick fix… even on t.v!
Back in the real world, I take my last dose of Evil P on Thursday! In just two days, the prednisone purge begins after over a year and a half of Evil P toxicity. The “quick fix” is over. Let’s see if “long-term awesomeness” is in my body’s vocabulary.
Speaking of awesomeness, did I mention I love Hugh Laurie? I found this funny, little montage of lupus mentions on “House.” Enjoy!!
